Melasti "a Purification for the Universe"

A few days before Nyepi (silent day), a procession of Hindus perform ritual purification for the universe known as Melasti / Mekiis. On this day, all the sacred symbols like "Pretima" or "Pecanangan" manifestation of the gods worshiped in a temple, will be paraded at a time that is determined by marching or in Bali called "mapeed", all the sacred symbols carried into water sources such as sea, river or lake. Then the peak event of Melasti ceremony was held, all the hindus people that join on that parade worship to the God in its manifestation as the "Dewa Baruna" and the last requested Tirta (holy water) obtained from the sea, lakes, or rivers.
